- Because it is not a Carb...they cause the blood sugar fluctuations, Protein on the other hand, keep you fuller for longer and dont disrupt the blood sugars, they keep the blood sugars on an even keel.

Having a protein will help maintain an even blood sugar level over a period of time and keep you from dropping or spiking. A good, quick source of protein with a little fat works best for this. If you are hypoglycemic, you should keep something like almonds or peanuts around and should be eating every few hours. A small hand full will do the trick.
