Diet for Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia?

I have hypoglycemia and I am planning on having a baby. I was told that if was to have a baby I would develop type 2 diabetes, does anyone know if this is true?

  1. I did not. Eat your tiny 6 meals a day, healthy ones. Be sure to have your banana about 2:00 to keep blood sugar up where it should be. Did your doctor tell you that, or someone else. I am sure that your weight has a lot to do with developing diabetes II. Keep your weight in check, while you are pregnant. Remember, for you, 20 pounds is really enough to gain while pregnant.
  2. You could develop it....but there is no "one size fits all" answer to it. Most women who do develop it while pregnant end up going back to their original sugar levels after they give birth.
  3. Not necessarily true for you specifically but your chances of being diabetic may increase. Being pregnant completely alters the mom's metabolism of glucose. So, your blood sugar could plummet easily or stay low in first trimester. Second trimester your body won't use insulin very well and your blood sugar could increase. Talk with your ob doc. Don't give up the experience of being a mom because of the risk of diabetes if you can help it...it is too awesome to miss!
  4. All I know is I had gestationl diabetes when I had my first boy had to take insulin at the end. after he was born it went away. when he turned 3 months old it came back and stayed. I was not fat either my weight was 125 pounds. so I guess it is possible.
