What are treatments for hypoglycemia?
I think I have hypoglytcemia. My symptoms are matching up with WebMD and other medical sites. If I do go to the doc, what is the most she can do? What are treatments for hypoglycemia. I am afraid it will be a waste of time for me to even go.

- Bed rest first and meds I guess.
- Sugar, really, eat some simple sugars like whats in milk or if you can find glucose tablets, that will bring up your blood glucose rapidly
- your doctor would probably put you up for a HBA1C test which will determine if you have diabetes (hyper and hypoglycemia episodes will be mapped out for the last month from your test date). with regards to hypoglycemia treatment - you can give any person experiencing hypoglycemia 4 ounces of orange juice as an initial treatment to be repeated if they are still experiencing any signs and symptoms related to hypoglycemia. i would have you go to the doctor - it would be better to have you tested for diabetes rather than have you fainting one day from hypoglycemia. diabetes is a serious disease that needs proper treatment.
- If your A1C levels are normal, it might be a good idea to switch to a whole grain diet. Replace white breads with 100% whole wheat and have a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Whole grains burn slower in the stomach than their enriched counterparts and relaease a low and steady supply of glucose to the blood stream. White breads and enriched grains give up all of their glucose at once and causes glucose highs and lows. Switching to a 6 small meals a day schedule is also a good idea. Keep a bag of trail mix or something near you during the day.
