Diet for Hypoglycemia

im hypoglycemic. what should i eat?

im 15 and i've been passing out and the doctor said it is because my blood sugar gets to a high point then suddenly drops. im always running around with my friends and didnt really pay attention to foods with a lot of sugar until now. what is a good diet for hypoglycemia?

  1. Avoid refined sugars....soda, candy bars, etc. You basically need to eat like you're diabetic because your body also doesn't process sugar properly. Keep some glucose tablets or something high in sugar for when you can feel your sugar crashing and don't have any food on you. Try to eat high fiber foods and lots of protein. I've struggled with hypoglycemia most of my life. Through high school and college my best snack would be half a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat. Just try to eat regular meals and you should be fine--breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a mid-morning snack and a mid-afternoon snack. If you have problems getting control, ask your doctor to send you to a nutritionist. That's how I learned what worked for me. Good luck! Its annoying, but its pretty easy to control.
