What should you eat when your blood sugar is low, and you're trying to lose weight? Every once in a while, my blood sugar gets really low and I start feeling weak or sick. Anyway, I want to lose 5 pounds, but sometimes when I get hungry, my blood sugar falls and I end up on a binge. What are foods that will get my blood sugar back up quickly without too many calories?

What are the most dangerous effects of low blood sugar? I know the basic things that can happen, headaches, dizziness, irritability, depression, confusion, passing out, siezures... but what, if any, are the long-term risks of low blood sugar? I always hear about the damage high blood sugar causes, but what can low blood sugar do to you in the long run? Ok, I guess I could have figured out it could be fatal, but I guess I'm wondering about chronic illness... such as how high blood sugar can cause peripheral neuropathy. I have just been diagnosed as a diabetic, and I have not realized many times I had a headache or disorientation/depression before, usually after not eating a long while, or working out intensely, was usually an instance of low blood sugar. So, my question is, would repeated times of hypoglycemia, let's say where I become disoriented a few times a week because my sugar is too low, cause any long term damage?
What are the symptoms of having low blood sugar? I don't know why, but I have never been a fan of sugar... I rarely eat chocolate, sweets, etc. But I notice, that sometimes, when I miss lunch, I become dizzy... Or, that I can not fall asleep without eating anything. But, I don't see this problem in anyone else in my family. If I have low blood sugar, is that why I have to eat right before I go to sleep? I don't know... Thoughts?
Can hypothroid cause low blood sugar if you screw up a dose? I usually have to wait 3 full hours after eating before I can take the meds or it won't have the full effect and I feel sick all day. Can it cause low blood sugar too? It is physical and not mental. I have had the tests done and I am one of the 1% of the thyroid problems that have an opposite reaction to low thyroid. My adrenal system kicks when the thyroid is low and I get same day results from the meds. I have had to PROVE it to several Doctors. I made them create 6 regular synthroid pills and one fake and put them in identical capsules and place them in my pill tray. I was able to accurately tell them the day that I got the fake one. EVERY TIME. I actually lose weight if I stop taking the pills and can't eat or sleep because my stomach gets all knotted up and I get raging runs. No one believes me until I prove it but there are 1% of us out there.
Is it possible to adapt to low blood sugar? I think, I am adapting to low blood sugar. My blood sugar is at 50 right now, and I don't fill a thing. In fact I fill like i could run a marathon. Is it possible to adapt to low blood sugar? If so is this unhealthy since I've adapted?

I usually didn't get that way until I was in the low 70s, but lately when I check, I'm usually in the 80s. Can you start noticing symptoms then, or could it be something else? Thanks!

How does very low blood sugar affect someone's disposition, inhibitions, etc? Specifically... I know someone with very low blood sugar will say things they otherwise wouldn't. But are those things they would otherwise think, but not say? Or does low blood sugar cause someone to literally say things they simply don't believe? I know you should take anything with a grain of salt, but is there a grain of truth to what someone in that condition might say?

Why do diabetics sweat when they have a low blood sugar? I know that sweating is the body's natural way to cool off when hot. But why do diabetics sweat when they have a low blood sugar? It would seem to me that the body would need to hold on to water and whatever else is in sweat.

Can a quivering bottom lip be a sign of low blood sugar? My dad recently had a quad bypass & he has type 2 diabetes.. Lately we've noticed his bottom lip quivering. It happens for a few seconds at a time, then stops for a while. His blood sugar usually drops very fast so we were just wondering if that could be a sign it's getting too low. When I asked him about it, he says he doesn't even realize he's doing it.
Why do I see green when my blood sugar is low? I have type 1 diabetes, diagnosed at age 7 (I am 17 now). During the past few years, when my blood sugar is low I have been seeing a very large green circle in the center of my vision. It is really difficult to concentrate on one object in my direct line-of-sight because of the weird green blob, almost like a thick green wax paper. I just want to know WHY this green circle appears . . . All I can find info on is "BLURRED vision and low blood sugar". Any ideas why this happens?

How to prevent low blood sugar? I don't have diabetes, but I occassionally have bouts of low blood sugar when I eat meals a bit late, and I feel very weak and hungry. I know the immediate treatment for low blood sugar is to eat/drink something with a high sugar content to elevate your glucose levels, but apparently in daily life one is supposed to avoid real sugary food/drinks. Why is that? Why is it so important to have one time but not in general? Is sugar, for a person subject to hypoglycemic attacks, a good thing or a bad thing?
