Diet For Hypoglycemia Foods Knowledge Base
Did my change in diet cause hypoglycemia? I got dehydrated about 5 weeks ago and for about two days I didn't take in much sugar because I was drinking water rather than soda. For years before this I would drink anywhere from 6 to 18 sodas a day and eat sugary foods constantly. After the two days, I drank a Powerade and about an hour later I started to have problems-headache, lightheadedness, and some coordination issues. The next day I had a bottle of Coke when we were unloading a truck at work and the problems were worse. It started out the same as the day before but then I got very confused and felt like I was going to pass out. My coworkers wanted me to go to the emergency room but I didn't go. It lasted for about 4 hours even though I ate something about an hour into it. Any sugar I had caused these problems for about a month. I started waking up in the middle of the night and in the mornings I feel miserable until I eat something, then I crash again about an hour to two later. Would the sudden change in diet cause this? My doctor told me to avoid foods high in sugar and eat small frequent meals because the results from a 3hr glucose tolerance test came back pretty low and stayed low throughout. The other day I decided to see what would happen if I ate huge amount of sugar rather than a small amount-I don't know why I did this, but I did. I felt ok-I basically just had a headache later that night-but I expected to wake up either in the middle of the night or in the morning feeling horrible. I didn't and I wasn't even hungry when I woke up. I had breakfast but I didn't eat much sugar that day and around lunch I started to have problems again. About a year ago I tried to cut back on soda and I started getting really bad headaches. I went to the doctor and was told that I was having caffeine withdrawl. This time however, after a couple of days I couldn't get going in the mornings without the caffeine so I have been drinking diet soda. I have been having about 6-8 diet sodas a day for about a month, so I don't think it is the caffeine. At first my doctor thought that I was probably diabetic as I had a number of the symptoms-excessive thirst, weight loss, cuts and bruises that linger, fatigue, and sensitivity to sugar among others. He was surprised that the results ended up being as low as they were. Every other test that has been done so far has come back completely normal.

I wanted to change around my diet I dont have diabetes but my blood sugar runs low and I feel like i am constantly testing & I feel "low" at 75 & feel like i have to eat right awayto spike it back up. what type of diet is best for me? how often should I eat?what is too low?how long do I wait to test again before i eat & should I test every time I feel "low" or just eat then wait? any examples thanks a lot
I need a diet for a teen girl with wacko hypoglycemia (: SHORT? I am 12 and my mom tells me i have hypoglycemia (she has it too) and i did a whole load of research and i have it. I'm getting a doctors appt. just to talk about some stuff but my mom doesn't want me to take the test because it's shown to be very artificial. It's pretty bad right now. I need some good foods and possibly diets to follow. Oh and i would really like to lose weight because i'm 30 lbs over weight :'( also is there any medication for it? Oh and i'm allergic to mushrooms!
Is my hypoglycemia diet ok? I have hypoglycemia and have lost considerable weight. Im normally an athletic 195 pounds but currently weight approx 160 pounds. My diet, as of today, consists of 6 meals, 3 hours apart with approx: 20 ; 40 ; 5 grams of protein, carbs and fat respectively. Thats approx 120; 240; 30 grams of protein, carbs and fat respectively each day. (no fruits, sugars etc. and all whole foods) Does that seem appropriate for hypoglycemia? Should i increase or decrease the protein bearing in mind my weight loss? I also believe im not absorbing all the nutrients... Also, how long before i can expect to improve? Can i expect to be cured?
hypoglycemia diet? I experience hypoglycemia commonly. Most often it is reactive, but I also experience fasting hypoglycemia as well. It is a stand-alone condition, as I am not diabetic. My question is this.. what can I do with my diet to make the symptoms of tiredness less crippling? As it stands.. after eating a meal, I can barely stay awake for the next two hours or so. Usually when the tiredness sets in I take a few glucose tablets to stabalize my sugar, but I know that is probably not the best to do. I think I need to change my diet so that I have less of an upward spike (and therefore less of the resulting crash). The problem is, it seems like the only thing I crave is carbohydrates and sugars. Is my body just producing a lot of insulin to make up for the carbs and sugars? What are the best foods to choose? Any help would be great.
Confused about new hypoglycemia diet? I was just diagnosed yesterday through a 3 hour glucose test. I am relieved to find that there is an actual medical cause of my symptoms (headache, chronic fatigue, bad memory and inability to lose weight) however I am very confused about the diet. I'm a big "google" fan so I decided to do more research since the doc only had 15 minutes for me. He said to cut out white carbs and replace them with whole wheat or those made from brown rice. Most of the diets are pretty consistent with this however when I look up actual meal plans, they all seem pretty high carb and include foods like crackers, jelly, milk, pasta, etc. I know I can just replace these white carbs with whole wheat ones but it seems like more carbs than I was eating before. Does anyone know a good website where I can find a specific diet plan including a week or two worth of meals and recipes? Thanks :)
What is it like to have hypoglycemia? I'm worried i may have it... How did you know? First off i have terrible eating patterns. Skip meals, overeating at one meal, very late eating. (college student/waitress) However. I stay away from fast foods at all time and have a decent diet with healthy foods. I think i am addicted to carbohydrates. If i dont eat for more than 4 to 7 hours i get nautious, lightheaded, agitated and anxious to eat (in an obsessive way that makes me eat WHATEVER is available in a hurry) my head has a very particular feeling which i now associate with hunger(stomach indicators are not my way of knowing when to eat anymore...) , I guess i crash. It is an all over nasty feeling which is resolved within 5 to 10 minutes of eating food, usually i will seek out carbos. Sometimes i am afraid i may faint, but the feeling is so restless and manic that i always find something to eat. I usually get daily headaches, from small tension ones to full migranes that make me cry. Does this sound like i should check for Hypoglycemia?
I'm hypoglycemic and dieting. How can I keep my blood sugar up while limiting calories? Whenever I get symptoms (irritability, headaches, dizziness...) I always crave sugar, and I know logically that I'm supposed to eat other things instead (carbs with fat and protein at once) but I have trouble thinking of tiny snacks that involve all those things and are quick to make. I'm trying to eat small things often, which is helpful, but it's usually a matter of grabbing an apple, or an oatmeal bar, and these things don't combine the three types of food. Good for dieting, bad for hypoglycemia. Dieting would be so much easier if avoiding food didn't make me grouchy and sick... (Oh yeah, FYI, I'm 24 pounds above my "healthy weight", according to the body mass index charts. So the dieting isn't crazy. ;)
Very sick puppy, please help!? First, let me start by saying that my puppy has been to the vet. I know that is usually a common answer here, and I agree that it should be. I had a litter of 2 pomeranian puppies. (I got the female when she was already pregnant from someone who clearly could not take care of her). She is UTD on her shots. The puppies had been wormed appropriately. Both puppies appeared very weak fairly suddenly. They seemed to have hypoglycemia so I warmed them and rubbed some Karo on their gums. They did seem to perk up a bit. Then the one that was worse off got a little better and the one that was okay took a turn for the worse. We lost him this morning. I took the other puppy to the vet and they did a fecal exam which was negative. They also administered IV fluids. They said he must have some type of bacterial infection and that it was causing bouts of hypoglycemia. The infection was by far the most concerning. They sent him home with a tube of Nutri-cal, prescription diet food to be administered by syringe and some antibiotics. All seemed the same until the puppy took a turn for the worse. He threw up and stopped breathing. I thought he was dead. He wasn't breathing except for a few gasps of air. I then gave him a dose of nutri-cal and he started breathing normally again, whining and moving his legs. His legs and neck are pretty stiff. As of now he is still breathing, but obviously not doing well. I am curious as to what this could be and if there is anything left I can do? I had been giving him pedialyte and have tried to since, but he won't lick at it or even try to swallow. The vet said that he might make it and he might not when he sent him home. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the responses, sadly right after finishing the post the poor little guy died in my arms. It was so sad, I too think that the vet could have done more, he should have kept him overnight with an IV. Puppies die a lot faster from dehydration than infection. They could have kept him alive long enough for the antibiotics to kick in and help remedy the infection. BTW-It was an animal hospital.
what happens if i switch dog foods too fast? I am a fairly new owner to a puppy and I guess I hadn't done my research well enough. My puppy has been sick and has been having trouble pooping from the first day I had him (about a month ago). I realized that I've been switching his food from science diet to beneful because he would always steal my other dog's food. he also was diagnosed with hypoglycemia & coccidiosis which led to the vet putting him on wet food for a while, and then back to the science diet, then back to beneful. are these diet changes causing his stomach to be upset and him have trouble pooping? im so worried and i dont know how to fix this!
Question for strict healthy eaters (Vegetarians, Whole foods only etc)? Certain foods irritate certain health problems I have such as Hypoglycemia, lactose intolerant and overactive yeast. After some blood tests, my doctor advised I should go easy on animal meat also. I eat a LOT of chicken, and some ground turkey, pork and occassionally a hamburger. I recently accidentally came across a video on youtube that showed a slaughter house of pork and beef. I always knew that you had to kill animals to eat meat, but seeing this changed me profoundly and I believe I am ready to shun meat for good after this video. My question is, (for the strict dieters), did you enter this way of living gradually? Have you always eaten this way since you were a kid? What did you do if you had strong cravings for certain foods against your diet? My goal is to eat more whole foods, shunning artificial ingredients, preservatives, low sugar an now no meat. I almost feel like crying (Seriously) but I know I need to do this for my health and more. Will power is evading me. Help Mark- Please tell me those sources and how is it decent to kill animals for food? I am not being condescending in this question even though it may sound like it, I am genuinely curious. I really want to do this, but I can't get past the images of the cruelty that I saw. The thought of never eating bacon again is hard to get past too, so what do I do!! Also, I have a 4 year old child, how do I improve her diet and reduce meat when at school she is fed food filled with preservatives, sugar and cheap meat such as hot dogs and chicken nuggets. I can't be w/her all the time. Also, (Again). Am I a hypocrite if I still want to eat Seafood? I also have no intention of giving up dairy products such as eggs, milk or cheese, just reduce them because of their fat content. Thanks Scottie for your genuine and helpful answer and the link I will definitely check it out!!!
How do you feel that 90% of your food has MSG on it I just called the takeaway & guess what? I just asked then do you have MSG ON THE foods and they said YES we do I asked can you not put it on mine they said its already been sent out so NEXT TIME you get a take away ask if they have it. 9 times out of 10 they do. hat are the MSG side effects? MSG is an excitotoxin, which in a nut shell means, these chemical transmitters excite your brain cells to death. Children seem to be more susceptible. Russell Blaylock, Author of Excitotoxins the Taste that Kills, discovered that excitotoxins, like MSG, may aggravate or precipitate many neurological disorders. With what seems like more and more awareness about neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, most people want to do all they can to avoid developing these disorders. The safest and easiest way to take care of your brain health is avoid all food additives by eating a raw food, whole food diet. After all, your body was not created to assimilate and utilize artificial or man made anything. Your body was created to utilize food as it was created. So avoid MSG side effects and eat food in its most natural form. Some specific side effects and disorders related to excitotoxins discussed in Blaylock’s book include: Seizures Brain cell death Brain damage Allergies Headaches Strokes Hypoglycemia Brain Tumors For more information on MSG side effects and excitotoxins visit <<< AND IM EATING THIS WHILE IM PREGNANT Well yeah the question is Whats your thoughts on this. Could I have hypoglycemia? Has anyone else had this? I am 18 years old and have already had all major growth spurts. I am always, always hungry, it doesn't matter if I eat a 3 lb steak and lots of carbs or if I eat until I am ready to vomit. About 30 mins after my meal I start to become sooo hungry and if I dont eat another large meal within an hour after that I lose all strength in my body, at 4 hours of not eating I am near the point of passing out. I am always tired regardless of 16 hours of sleep or 8 hours of sleep, I find I have to take a nap during the day. I am very active I exercise 6+ hour a week, I work 6 hours a day, and then I am also in school for 4 hours a day so I am not hungry just because I am bored, I take in atleast 64 oz of water a day and have cut out fast food from my diet. I eat high fiber and lean protein foods and eat a recommended amount of essential fats a day. I find I often awake in the middle of the night very anxious and confused and in the morning when I wake up I get so easily excited and I.. often wake up to my heart racing. I also have been sweating a lot, like I can't be near any heat source or I just perspire so much. Could this be hypoglycemia? Also, I don't know if this means anything but I bruise VERY easily, really I am like a banana. The other day my boyfriend grabbed my arm playfully and ha a handmark bruise on my arm, I also get them in weird places like my back from no apparant source.
could this describe hypoglycemia? Has anyone ever had this? I am 18 years old and have already had all major growth spurts. I was tested for anemia about 2 years ago and my doctor told me that wasn't it, she told me i have 'inherited mild fatigue' meaning she has no idea what is going on with me.
Crohn's Disease... again...? Ok, although I posted once before for this specific topic, I find that I must post again. I appreciated the advice that I received, to go the emergency room. Despite my lack of health insurance, I did that, and they wouldn't even prescribe me a steroid as simple as prednisone - after begging and giving them several samples of nothing but blood and liquid, they gave me 30 days of Sulfasalizine and Folic Acid to go with it. This would typically be ideal, but it didn't calm down anything. Now, to be honest, I am on my laptop and writing from my anchor, the bathroom. I am out of here ten minutes tops, and in here for another twenty. Most times, I am not doing anything but plain bleeding into the toilet, and trust me - I'm a female who thinks farts are a riot and poop jokes are even funnier, but this is actually humiliating to have to ask. HELP! I originally mentioned that I have lost so much weight my hipbones were disgustingly sticking out - well, now it's getting even worse. My boyfriend doesn't even like to touch me, and says I look anorexic. "Eewwww, gross..." yeah, that's something you want to hear when all you want is a reassuring hug... So, back to the whole hospital bit - when I went in there to the ER, they took my blood and told me I am extremely Anemic (I could have guessed that). They said I needed to be admitted immediately, and then when the billing person came in to ask me about insurance and all that, and found out that I have none - it was all they could do to get me out of there. Nice, right? I love American health systems (NOT)... and the people at PSU SHAC are also not helpful, because they don't "deal with this type of stuff" and they refer me out into the community, whose patient rosters all are full, from the calls I have made. Changing courses again - I resorted to buying Prednisone off of a friend. This is illegal, and I don't give a crap at this point. I was desperate, and I just did it earlier tonight. I WANT TO STOP BLEEDING!!! Other things I tried were starting a raw food diet (although I rarely eat anything at all because I am scared to - every time I do, I cramp 5 minutes later and don't stop bleeding for 20), aloe water, and acidophilus pills. I am starting to get headaches, blurred vision, and I am out of breath after 5 steps. I count twice in the past week I have fainted while in the bathroom, actually, and had to have my boyfriend, who is scared spitless at this point, carry me into the bedroom. I am still in the bathroom, still writing... I'm desperate. I'm scared. I've been losing blood for 2 months, the hospital will not admit me when we all know I need it, and I dunno what to do. Yeah, and this is finals week - I don't think I need to tell you how that has been going. My professors all understand, but they watch me like a criminal who is going to cheat when I leave the room. I'll give you the things that will help again - I am 24, female, full Italian ethnicity, university student, semi-stressful lifestyle, normally very athletic when I am well. I have Anemia, Asthma, Crohn's, Hypoglycemia, and have been formally diagnosed Fibromyalgia. Yes, I actually do have it, it wasn't a wrong diagnosis. Trust me, I went through a million tests, and I have had VERY slight loss of bone since diagnosis. Thanks, to any and to all who help me! If you have this or know someone who does, I'm sure you know where I am coming from! Signid, DESPERATE
Help W/Low Carb Diet? I am trying to cut carbs, but I need help! I am a finicky eater...and I notice the Atkins diet lists a lot of foods that I do not like. I am sensitive to dairy and eggs (they make me sick to my stomach), and I absolutely cannot stand seafood. Or olives, radishes, cabbage (cole) slaw, corned beef, roast beef, turkey, veal, lamb....So - in trying to eat a balanced, yet low carb diet, I am having trouble figuring out what I *can* eat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Please note, also, that I have been diagnosed with "Functional Hypoglycemia" - so eating 5 small meals that are still low-carb seems to be posing a huge problem for me. As for the seafood that I don't like: All of it. I don't like any fishes (including, but not limited to, salmon, cod, tuna, pickeral, waleye, etc), shrimp, or lobster...I don't like frog legs...
Sudden Onset Of Possible Hypoglycemia In 6yo.?? My son has been diagnosed with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, Pediatric Conduct Disorder, and has been on Tenex, Celexa, and Risperdal in VERY VERY low doses. At the plea of the psychiatrist I decided to place him on an elimination diet to check for food sensitivities. Already known allergies to milk and peanut. What we found were extreme behaviors on sugar day (extremely tired & completely Out of it)and food coloring day (very hyper, just overall difficult to control himself and frequent urination). Deciding to try sugar again, thought I would check his blood w/ glucometer beforehand. 2 hrs after eating, his level measured 87. 3 hours later he was crying, pale, not feeling well, had a slight fever, and a sore throat, and I decided to check prior to dinner-- meter said LO. After research, found out meter reads as low as 10. I NEED ADVICE! Do I continue monitoring for a few days, try the sugar, or take him straight to a Dr?? Thanks!!
Need help improveing diet...? I want to greatly improve my diet and start cutting out all the bad things I eat. I'm 19, 5'5 and a little over 150 and feel I should be eating better. My boyfriend's stepdad is having heart problems and this was a big awakeing to everyone how important healthy diets are. I mean I eat decently. I drink a lot of water, but I love fried and salty foods. I'm allergic to seafood. My boyfriend and I are talking about cutting the bad fats, bad carbs and sugars our of our diets. I have hypoglycemia so I have to get a little suger, but I dont eat a lot of sweet stuff. We both also have stomach problems and I fit the sympotoms for IBS. So a new diet will help that too. I'm moving out next week and either I'll eat better or worse then I am now. Does anyone have any good diet plans that are heart healthy that we can pass on to our familes. I don't like a lot of meat. I love pastas and rices and chicken. I enjoy cooking. Where can I find info more then just recipes. Thanks!
Do I have a terrible diet? So far today I've had a buttered roll for breakfast, some chocolate peppermint cups for snack, and a half a bowl of clam chowder and peanut butter toast for lunch. I'll probably have a grilled cheese sandwich and hot fudge sundae for dinner. I've heard carbs are bad, which is unfortunate considering they make up about 97% of my diet. I don't have any weight problems and the only health problem I have is Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) which I don't think eating lower sugar foods will help. Should I change my diet or am I fine? Yes silly, I have vegetables- every year at Thanksgiving :)
Need Weight Loss Help...Complicated.? I am seriously overweight and every method of weight loss out there,, it seems my body is resistant to it. most excersises are out of the question do to a foot deformity, my energy and metabolism are low due to a thyroid disorder, various food allergies and hypoglycemia make most diets impossible ...i take various suppliments including fishoil and every vitamin known to man, i have tried numerous diet pills with nothing but heartburn to show for it...i am 22 years old with the body if a 50 year old...not just fat but sagging, bent at the neck..i am a single mom so money and time are tight...can't spend on prepared meals or weight loss centers .i need some simple and relatively fast solutions...i am getting deperate. what i have tried: weightwatchers, atkins, curves fitness centers, tae bo (all excesice is very painful in it has any leg and foot involvement so i can't do much of it it anymore) trim spa, fit usa, susan summers diet, treadmill, excersise bike, gisselle, green tea diet, grape fruit extract, cortislim, apple cider vinager, ephedra, chromium, prescription diet pills, and that isn't half of it......i have even tried amphetamines to boost metabolism with no luck............. variious doctors, nutrutionists have been unable to find me a plan that was practical (no elaborate food preparation 3 times a day) that was tolerable and did not include foods that woudl aggrivate my allergies (dairy, wheat and all wheat-like grains, soy, yeast) or my hypoglycemia. the eat less part is not helpful with my hypoglycemia. and for the guy who said eat less excersise more did you read a thing i wrote? the giyuy wuop suggested the hand weights, thaT'S A GREAT IDEA I THNK I'LL TRY TYHTA, BUT PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I AM MAKING EXCUSES. Why can't Hypoglycemia be dectected with a glucose monitor? I think I have hypoglycemia based on symptoms and how much better I feel with the hypo diet. I borrowed my SIL's extra glucose meter and tested with different foods and I was telling a hypo friend of mine about it. She said that you can't test for hypo with a glucose meter. I did note some big changes in my blood sugar after eating an apple (up from 100-150 within 30 minutes and then down to 75 within another 45 minutes) I don't want to take the 5 hour test becaus I hear that's awful. so why isn't the meter valid for this? Do you have to take it IV blood to detect it properly?
Do I have hypoglycemia? Ever since I can remember, I have always started to shake when I am hungry. Once I start to shake, and I don't eat something, I start to feel faint. On a day when I am somewhat active, I have to eat about every three hours, or I will feel VERY faint and lethargic. This is really bothersome on school days (I start school at 8:00 and don't eat until 2:00), and I get SO shaky that I can't play my violin (my orchestra class is before lunch). Do I have hypoglycemia? I am 17, and this has practically happened my whole life. Could it be my eating habits? I tend to eat only organic fruits and vegetables. I try not to eat much meat, and I am trying to take out any artificial sweeteners in my diet. I don't dink carbonated beverages either. I want to eat only natural foods. Please do not criticize my eating habits because of your personal beliefs. I am only stating my diet for medical reasons
How to stabilize blood sugar (hypoglycemia)? I've recently discovered that my blood sugar is dropping rapidly and that I am hypoglycemic. I also have a host of other health related issues, including severe food allergies. I currently eat a diet almost soley of hamburger/beef (no bun or condiments), white rice and baked potatoes. I only add salt for flavoring. I'm eating about every 2 hours and I only drink water. We realize this is not a healthy diet, and we are working with the doctors to find safe alternatives. We keep sugar water on hand for emergencies. Anyway, it appears I have much to learn about portions. In my mind, in order to raise my blood sugar, I need to have lots of rice and potatoes and a smallish piece of beef. Do I have this backwards? Should I have more protein and a lesser portion of the carbs. If so, how does that raise my blood sugar up enough to be safe? Any help you can provide is sincerely appreciated :-) . I am thoroughly exhausted by all this and quite confused. On a plate of food (using my current diet as indicated) what percentage should be protein, thus leaving the rest of the plate for the carbs?
What is best to eat with functional hypoglycemia? I've been diagnosed with functional hypoglycemia, I've always had a fast metabolism but since having my baby 17 months ago I keep having symptomatic hypo's all the time. Before anyone says I have seen a diabetic consultant who brought me in to hospital to do a 72 hr fast to rule out insulinoma etc and this is the conclusion he came to, I'm waiting to see the dietitian to see if it can be controlled just through diet. I've already started eating an oaty cereal for breakfast and wheaten bread instead of scones at work and cut out chocolate etc. I normally have pasta or potatoes with whatever I'm having dinner. Just looking any tips while I'm waiting on the dietitian for foods that are good to eat or probably more importantly things I don't realise contain things that trigger it, I know caffeine and sugary foods trigger it.
Hypoglycemic diet? Can anyone suggest foods that are easy to take to work that don't go bad real fast? I have hypoglycemia and I work a job that requires me to work 10-12 days sometimes and I am always on the run. I work for a doctor so I have little time for myself. I was told to eat several small things a day to avoid feeling ill etc. Any suggestions?
15 week old yorkie won't eat, she weighs around 2lbs. Has chronic hypoglycemia. What can I do? She has been taken to the vet about 10 times. Changed her food, put her on certain diets and nothing works. She eats a food for the first couple times then acts like she would rather die than eat. Vets can't find whats wrong with her. What does anyone recommend? She throws up often as well, sometimes once a day for days at a time. Help! We give her nutrical 3 times a day and she loves it. Will eat it like its the last item of food on earth but wont eat after that most of the time. If i had a food similar to NutriCal then that would be great!
Bipolar disorder misdiagnosis really hypoglycemia? I was diagnosed with bipolar type 1 about a year ago. I first noticed symptoms 5 years ago, at the time I was 18. I was about 270 lbs and seriously needed to loose weight. As a kid I would always get very very weak and then needed food with sugar in it, like a Milky Way bar. So I decided to go on a diet and over 2 years lost a nice 50 pounds. I cut out all the junk food and ate chicken, a little rice and cheese/fruits/vegetables. I think by the time I was 21 those "weak" spells where i felt like fainting disappeared. 19-20 I did gain back all my weight because I started eating a lot of junk food, like 3 milky ways, kit kat, a lot of soda, ice cream and chips(munchies for the pot). So I felt things were getting out of hand and then I went on a real diet with exercise and stuff involved, as well as the old diet. Since then I have lost about 80 pounds and am pretty fit now. Now I have been reading articles about how bipolar disorder as well as like 15 other mental illnesses are often really just hypogycemia. I do occasionally get check ups and my blood taken, and my doctor has never said anything about any blood problems such as low blood sugar. My psychiatrist is near 100% sure I am bipolar. Medicine works sometimes. My bipolar symptoms are pretty bad, my manic episodes are intense and depression is sometimes light, but can get very very depressing. What I am trying to say is that, could i have been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder? I don't know, my bipolar symptoms seem pretty "classic" but the denial in me keeps on researching.... Is this possible/probable and this is just hypoglycemia? Or perhaps I have bipolar disorder and I am hypoglycemic and the hypoglycemia just intensifies my bipolar disorder? YES i know wrong place to ask for real help, I will go to a doctor next week, just needs some clues and ideas on if its possible. Also, sugar never affected my mood, whether a lot of none, my mood was consistent with the episode i was going through at the time.
im hypoglycemic. what should i eat? im 15 and i've been passing out and the doctor said it is because my blood sugar gets to a high point then suddenly drops. im always running around with my friends and didnt really pay attention to foods with a lot of sugar until now. what is a good diet for hypoglycemia?
Wanna help create a site about hypoglycemia? I suffer from hypoglycemia (reactive hypoglycemia) I had a glucose tolerance test. In the first hour my blood sugar raised a lot and one hour later it crashed There are several people with this problem and very little resources on the web. Most websites have not been updated for years and most forums have been inactive for months. I have tried many diets but mostly Zone, Atkins, Low-Fat Glycemic Index. In other words the extreme: high-carb low-fat, high-fat low-carb, high protein. Eventually I found out that a better approach is a "balanced" and "moderate" diet using all the strategies to maintain a balanced blood sugar along the day. Now I want to create a community of hypoglycemics to share ideas, food and activity logs, recipes, to ask and answer questions, to provide tips and to make friends. If you want to help me or know more, send me an email or message. Alannah thanks for the information Monsterrachie you're not allowing email and messages and I don't know how to contact you.
Wanna help me to create a site for Reactive Hypoglycemia? I suffer from hypoglycemia (reactive hypoglycemia) caused by a pre-diabetic insulin resistance. Everyone is diabetic in my family, but so far (I'm young) I have no diabetics but this unbereable pre-diabetic blood-sugar fluctuations where my blood sugar goes up and down the whole day. The symptoms are just frightening and life crippling. I had a glucose tolerance test. In the first hour my blood sugar raised a lot and one hour later it crashed to below 30 and I fainted. There are several people with this problem and very little resources on the web. Most websites have not been updated for years and most forums have been inactive for months. When you search the net for info on reactive hypoglycemia you just can't help but feeling desolation and loliness because no forum or group or newsgroup is really active, no book is older than 10 years ago and no organization has been active since the last 20 years. It's just pure desolation and you must skim through archived webpages to find something. Should I get tested for hypoglycemia? Back in high school I would get the shakes every once in a while and someone once told me to have something with sugar. Well, it never got really bad until the past few years. I've always had an odd diet and then I became full vegetarian for a year. Since then I've begun to eat chicken and turkey again but not a lot. Well, it was getting to the point where I had to eat every few hours and sometimes if I waited too long I would get really shaky, dizzy, and sick to my stomach. Sick of making sure I always had food on me, I went to the doctor and he told me I was hypoglycemic and then tested me for 3 other things just to rule them out. But he didn't want to test me for hypoglycemia, just assume it. This just seems weird to me! Shouldn't I be tested? I also have irritable bowel syndrome which is why I stopped eating meat and it did help a lot.
Is it possible to be Addison's Disease? I got tested with a 3 hour glucose test and it came back as hypoglycemia. After changing my diet i still noticed no change. I got another blood test and my cortisol levels came back low. Im starting to feel worse everyday. Tired (12 or more hours of sleep), nausea, moody, shakes, craving salty foods, thirsty, depressed, and crying for no reason. Could this be addison's disease even tho its very rare?
i cant afford to eat with this hypoglycemia!? i've been having to eat a meal every 2 to 3 hours for a long time now,, like many many months and lately i've been struggling so hard to eat anything. my husband works on commission and my house cleaning jobs just are not coming in. my blood glucose has been running high instead of low, my fastings have been 122 and 111 and 107 the last 3 mornings and normally are in the mid 90's and as low as the low 70's. i've not been able to afford to buy healthy food so i've been eating what ever i can eat which is white noodles, rice, lots of grains, but i try to eat the whole grains but i'm so short on money that i dont know what to eat anymore and i'm terrified i'm turning into diabetes from my cruddy diet as obvious by my high numbers! any help would be so much appreciated, i need cheap food ideas that are good for me! i buy veggies by the bags cause they are cheap and are good for me but i cant live on peas, carrots and canned chicken much longer..thank you to anyone who can help me here1 only in the last 3 days has my fasting blood sugar been this high but before this it was always normal. that is why i need some food suggestion help because i cant afford to eat like i was and now i am just eating what ever i can find to eat that i can afford and quickly it is going up because i have no real choice to eat lean cut meats, cottage cheese, chicken, ets that i was eating before. i need some food ideas that are inexpensive and healthy. i've searched the net but not finding a whole lot of help there...and please no advertisements for acci or any other other diet stuff, i dont want that stuff.
I seem to have hypoglycemia, however something just isn't right? After having my child I would wake up in the middle of the night just sick as could be feeling, and seek out sugar. My family thought I might be diabetic. I was able to talk to a nutritionist, and I felt guilty about this, and not being able to loose the pregnancy weight. She said I was hypoglycemic and talked about diet. The city I lived in, had some funding come its way and was able to open a low cost clinic for a while, and I went. I told the doctor I wanted to be tested for the hypo, she asked why, and I explained. SHe said were not going to use resources on blood testing, she was confident I had it, and went over the diet. Well it's been a few years and in the past few months it's getting worse. Food makes me sick, not eating makes me sick. I had to force myself to eat crackers, and I hate it. I cannot drink coffee or beer anymore, without a complete meltdown of just feeling awful. I don't know what to do, I don't have health insurance, and I can't afford to pay out of pocket for medical expenses. Does anyone have any knowledge to share please?
Can I have advice for regulating blood sugar (especially for mood and hypoglycemia)? I'm not diabetic and disregarding two trips to the hospital for low blood sugar my diet has caused me no problem besides my mood. I tend to get upset easy when I've eaten recently and after an hour or two I'm on top of the world and will describe myself as a prophet or a god. I've tried using mood stabilizers for this (just about every one on the market, risperidal, seroquel, abilify, lithium, even 5-HTP, there's so many i can't remember them all) and none have done anything to help regulate my mood (I've had some success with 5-HTP as it reduces the amount of food I eat compulsively and lessens the down I get after eating). 5-HTP, valarien, and passion flow extract are the only mood alterers I take now. I'm a small person, just under 100lbs and that's why even the tiniest amount of food affects me so. I know that if I could just get my blood sugar under control it'd probably help a lot. Every time I try and go to the doctor they try and put my on mood stabilizers and I just feel awful when I take those.
I did not have the room to state all that has happened sinc 2004. I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia But? It is true that my number might not be too high but, know these facts about me. weight 125 lbs. hieight 5 feet 11 inches, Body Mass Index (BMI 17.4) I gain weight suddenly and loose weight suddenly without dieting. Winter of 2009, emergency room found Ketones in my urine and blood. My blood platelettes were very low, my cholestol was high. My blood pressure was done low 92/65. I had blurred vision. Bottoms of my feet turned red and were sore to walk on and they had callasses on both heels with a fissure in my right heel that was open sore. The back of my hands were red as well as my knockles. Every night I get very thirsty and my throat stays dry. I keep large glass of water by my beside. I the past, I had a spell where I suddenly stopped breathing no air into my lungs and no air out. My throat just plain locked up tight. I had that happen to me several times over a 20 years stretch. All these things are going on right along wtih my blood glucose numbers. Anxiety and seizure do not cause all of those things to happen to a person. Needless to say they put me on SSDI because all these things were happening to me. What do you think with these further updates? I do not think I am so fine as my relatives say, The weight loss happens every for years like clock-work. I do not take any meds, chew or smoke or drink. Never did, never will. I eat only healthy foods and not refined sugar in any way, I do not eat nothing but organic foods. I am allergic to gluten, novacain, Asprin, and peanuts and tree nuts. I eat no foods with processing chemicals.
How can I follow my vegan diet while on vacation? I am a strict vegan and I have no intention of going off of it while I am on vacation. I am visiting my aunt, uncle, and cousins in Colorado in September for my cousin's wedding. Anyway, I am the only vegan in my entire family. I don't expect them to fuss over me however I need to eat often because of hypoglycemia. I don't think I will feel comfortable in their house if I help myself to whatever I can eat. Also when I get the reply card for my cousins wedding for which meal I want and none are vegan how do I reply? When I visit family for the day I bring my own food but I'm going from NJ to Colorado by plane so that won't work. Should I tell my aunt I'm a vegan or should I just food shop when I get there? People that aren't vegans think I am weird. My inlaws always make comments. I don't want my aunt to feel annoyed or stressed about my being a vegan. Her daughter will be getting married and she will be stressed enough but my veganism is so important to me. Joe while I appreciate your input, I am a vegan and that means that I don't have meat 100% of the time. If you want to have it at times then it is your choice but if you do have it sometimes then you aren't a vegetarian. It is clear that you aren't a vegetarian Rusty. Need I say more?
Help, my dog has a weight problem! Please help me keep him healthy.? Ok, so i have two yorkies. About 4 months ago, I had Joey(2 years old) and Tink(3 months old). Well, Tink got sick with Hypoglycemia because she was taken away from her mom too early. Because she had hypoglycemia, I fed her often... like 7 times a day. Well, Joey would eat her left overs, plus his own food for the day! When I got him, he was seven pounds. Then, Tink got super sick, and ended up passing away. I took Joey in for his yearly booster shot about a month after, and the vet weighed him, and he was 11 pounds!! So they said to put him on a diet. So I cut his food back quite a bit... that started in March! He is still not losing any weight! I don't want him to get heart problems! What can I do?
Why did my dog die from Parvo? Chip had to be put done. Just so you all know, I did Sub Q fluids 2x a day. I also had the vet inject him with anti nausea and an antibiotic. The vet gave me some take home medication as well. I took him the another vet Saturday night, as his condition worsened and they suggested more fluids and the A/D & I/D prescription diet. He still refused any food. My dog was about to turn 1 this month and had 3 parvo vaccines as a puppy. I am so very confused as to why he didn't survive. No, I did not hospitalize him, but I couldn't afford to. I don't even know if that would have made a difference. I think he died of hypoglycemia and went into shock from not eating. He wasn't vomiting and didn't have terrible diarrhea, so he didn't lose a lot of blood. Poor little guy. I wish I could have saved him. Now I'm wondering about the new "F Strain" form of parvo which is resistant to the vaccines. I have a 2 year old Bulldog, who's also been vaccinated along with a booster shot and I am deathly worried for her.

summer change? please look at this. thank you!? i want to workout and get healthy and strong by august, well, at least see really good results by august. i want to see the very best results by summer 09. but this is the very first time that i've actually seriously wanted to exercise and get healthy (don't want to lose weight, just want to build muscle and improve my overall health =)). do you have any tips? are their any really good websites that you know of that can help me? and, no, i don't want to diet, but i will be eating healthy foods like whole wheats (which i already eat), fruits, and veggies. how many times a week should exercise and how many meals a day (p.s. i have hypoglycemia so i need to eat every 2-3 hrs. oh, but i don't have any trouble exercising for a long period of time.) Okay, thanks in advance! i appreciate your answers! =) =) =) =)
Glucose readings after eating? I have been checking my glucose for a few years and I am not diabetic. I take it because of potential hypoglycemia. Usually after a meal, my glucose will go to 130 and then back to the 80's after 2 hours. Now, anytime I eat anything, my glucose isn't passing 110. I have been eating healthy foods and I added potatoes to my diet and it is still no higher than 110. Is there something wrong with that low of a number? I am panicking because I don't know what has changed!! I drank a half of soda and it wasn't higher than 97 from 77 before I drank it. I would appreciate if someone could give me some advise. Thank you! PS. I lost 40 lbs this year by diet and drinking a lot of water. I am considered a couch potato though. I ate dinner tonight and after 30 minutes my glucose level was 114 at it's highest and now it is 2 hours after eating and it is back down to 87. The only reason I am concerned is because it has always been much higher in the past. I had a soda, chicken and potatoes... It blows my mind that it is that low. Thank you for all of your answers, I really appreciate it!
Does my friend have an eating disorder??? Please answer, I am worried!? Hi. I am really worried about my friend. She is average size right now and looks really healthy but I think her body is telling her something. She thinks its hypoglycemic and anemia, but someone else close to her thinks she might be on the verge of an eating disorder, and now that I think of it, that could be a possibility. She doesn't live with her mom anymore, but with her best friend and her boyfriend. She has dealt with a lot because her dad was doing things to her (i'm not going to go into detail about it). Her best friend is really skinny and looks like a toothpick. And her best friend knows this but she cant seem to gain any weight, but shes really tall too. My friend always says how she needs to lose weight. I havent been friends with her that long, maybe a year or so. At first I thought she was joking because she is totally not fat. Recently she has had health issues. She went to the doctor and they say that she has signs of leukemia, hypoglycemia, and anemia, but they cant seem to find anything wrong. She bruises very easily and she has massive nosebleeds. I mean its just not a drip, but a handful of blood. The doctors say they think she has a cyst in her nose. but they have told her she needs to eat food and be on a diet. When she was living with her mom, her mom cooked alll the time, but now they dont have anyone to cook, except herself. Whenever I ask her what she has eaten for the day she always tells me that she hasnt (and its live 5 o clock in the evening) all she seems to eat is chips and pop. and thats for the whole day. She tells me she gets taco bell or fixes chicken, but I am never there so I dont know if she is or not. I really think she should go back home to her mom and her new stepdad (her dad is in prison) for maybe a month or so and take sometime off work (which she is still doing and hasnt called in once with this going on. My question is does my friend have an eating disorder or does she really have a medical problem. Again, I thought she had a medical problem, but when I was talking to someone else and they said something about an eating disorder I began to question it. Also what are some symptoms of eating disorders? Thanks!!!!

Please help - Frustrated with severe toenail fungus! Please reply if you have first-hand experience with it!? Hi - I'm looking for advice from people who have personal experience with the medication "lamisil" or "oil of oregano" to cure their toenail fungus. I'm not talking about a minor case of it either... I'm 32, female, and have a very embarrassing condition, mainly on my left foot. ALL of my nails on the left foot have severe toenail fungus. One on my right foot has it as well. I feel so ashamed at the pool or in the summer - I'm young and I want to be able to wear sandals and nice things like all the other women out there. I always have to hide my feet, or people notice, and I don't feel comfortable. One time someone even commented on it, and other people have stared, so I just wear closed-toe shoes. I have tried going on the yeast-free (candida-free) diet and have gotten very sick. It's too much for me to do all at once - staying away from all the sugars and so on plus taken all the strong herbs makes me very ill. I know that's what it's supposed to do, but I cannot function normally and carry on with any activities because I feel too sick when I do it. My thought is that lamisil will speed up the process as it only takes 12 weeks to take the pills. Of course, afterwards I will do my best to eliminate sugars and yeasts, but hopefully lamisil would give me a great boost to start off and then I will consume sugary foods ONLY in moderation. I have tried "oil of oregano" topically and orally but that also requires complete abstinence from sugars and yeasts. Don't get me wrong - I don't consume massive amounts of these foods, but I need a quicker fix where I would be allowed a little bit of sugar (even just a fruit) occassionally. I also suffer from hypoglycemia so I crave sugar and need it here and there - even just the good fruit sugars or I go insane! I have several questions: *Will lamisil cure even the most severe cases? *Please share your personal experience with it (or oil of oregano) if possible *I don't wish to hear from 'advertising product' people, only those who are not selling stuff - if it's to sell, the answer will be reported and deleted. I'm interested in real individuals offering their experiences and knowledge Thank you for your help.
RESISTANT STRAIN OF CANDIDA ALBICANS CAUSING PERSISTENT VAGINAL THRUSH or DO I HAVE VULVODYNIA? PLEASE HELP!!!? 20 year old female, chronic thrush sufferer. MARRIED, tend to develop thrush symtoms day after intercourse. became very noticible when bouts of thrush became more intense and more frequent. It began from a thrush infection, petri dish results came back from the lab specifying that i had a "heavy overgrowth of candida albicans", this was almost 3 weeks ago. For many years from ages 14-till now (20) i have suffered from reoccuernt bouts of thrush, usually minor enough to be treated by 6 day course of canesten cream and which always clears up after treatment. I was just routinely tested for clamidyia, herpes virus 1 and 2, hiv, bacterial vaginosis, uti (urinary tract in fection) and they all came back negative. (A HEAVY OVERGROWTH OF CANDIDA ALBICANS) was THE CULPRIT. i dont smoke or drink, am not on the pill, i dont have diabetes but i do suffer from stress and anxiety and hypoglycemia as well as love my chocolate and coffee a little too much. i wear cotton undies, dont wash my vagina with anything other than water, i both eat yoghurt and apply it topically. i am taking inner health plus capsules every day to help my body build up its good bacteria. i eat a lot of garlic, am now bathing in baths containing apple cider vinigar and baking soda. i am now boiling my water, drinking more than 2 litres a day and cutting out all suger, caffeine and antibiotic containing foods such as red meat chicken, eggs and naturally ALL YEAST CONTAINING PRODUCTS. i am up to my wits end with pain when i pass urine even though i have been tested for a UTI twice now and they both came back negative. i have a CONSTANT BURNING SENSATION on the outsie lips of my vulva that periodically worsens in bouts of varying intentisity. BUT THE BURNING IS ALWAYS THERE!!!. i am going to see a specialist however, the doctors are saying that i should be sitting on their side of the desk consisdering i have researched so much to help myself but they just prescribe one treatment at a time to no avail. TREATMENTS I HAVE USED i have used canesoral duo (oral capsule and topical cream) 3 days later no improvement, canesten 3 day cream, 3 days later no improvement, visit to the doctor again prescribed NILSTAT for a course of 14 days, burning began to get worse whilst using the cream so i stopped went to a different doctor and was prescribed orzole oral capsule and canesten 6 day pessary (the ones u insert in the vagina) no improvement. so back to the doctor and was prescribed boric acid (14 day course). Am currently on my 4th day of treatment and symptoms have remained the same-constant burning-worse when i URINATE-fluctuaing in levels of intensity. i am extreamily depressed and have suicidal thoughts. on top of this my anxiety is playing up and making it terribly hard to keep up with anything in my daily life. i have drastically changed my diet to kill the candida yeast and am taking antifungal herbal teas from the naturopath to help elliminate the fungal infection in my body. i am suffering really bad withdrawal symptoms for sugar and coffee which is only making the process worse. i feel as though the doctors have not a clue about how to really help or treat reoccurent thrush infections and that really brings out my anxiety and fear levels further. i feel really alone. it is ruining my sex life, my social life, my studies, my work and my will to live. the fact that i have tried all these treatments and still no relief makes me think is it possible to burn myself with the amount of differnt treatments i have used? AND HENCE THE BURNING SENSATION NOW? then i think its not possible because my body would have healed itself now if that was the case. could i have possibly cut myself when pushing the dry applicator into my vagina and irritated it? OR IS IT ANOTHER CONDITION ALLTOGETHER? i was GOOGLING CONSTANT VAGINAL BURNING and reaults came back about a condition called VULVODYNIA where for some unknown reason a womans vagina is constantly irritated, burning and sore. apparently the doctors dont know much about that condition either and only prescribe antidepresents anyway. apparently reoccurent vaginal yeast infections (thrush) can bring VULVODYNIA) ON. does any one have any INTRICATE advice about reoccurent thrush infections and CONSTANT VAGINAL BURNING? believe you me i have researched nealry all there is to know about canida thrush infections but all the information is so general and reapeated. WHAT CAN I DO TO FASTEN THE HEALING PROCESS? all these drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle are so draining and in my fragile state it is hard not to feel suicidal and totally alone. I HAVE COMPLAINED SO MUCH THAT MY HUSBAND IS NOW IMMUNE TO MY SUFFERING STATE AND I FEEL EVEN FURTHER ISOLATED. PLEASE HELP! i hope i have described my history thouroghly enough.
I suffer with Hypoglycemic symptoms but my blood glucose level is normal.? Background - I'm 34, working full time with 3 children, married with lots of debt. Two main symptoms are night terrors and restless leg syndrome, lets not forget cravings for all the wrong foods....alcohol, bad carbs and sugar, joint pain, mood swings, panic attacks and difficulty in losing weight and wanting to excercise, brain fog, inability to concentrate. My doctor has stated that Hypoglycemia is something they would NOT diagnose so are putting me in contact with a Psychologist instead!! Understandably stress may play a role in these symptoms but I'm unsure how this may help me. The Zoe Harcombe Diet has highlighted that I may be suffering from this but would prefer to have a diagnoses before cutting out all the things I enjoy and visit a psychologist every week. What can I do or where can I go to achieve a diagnosis that is taken seriously? I notice a couple of responses were related to my intake of alcohol. A bottle of wine at the week-end is not a problem. And with regard to the doctors opinion she was not aware of how to diagnose hypoglycemia and stated that it something they wouldn't diagnose even if it was!!!! Strange, I've suffered with food intolerances for the last 8 years and doctors are unable to help, psychologist help and burning a whole in my pocket paying for tests and nutritionalist help and still no further forward. The only thing the general practionioner is good for is to tell you your mad or you suffer from IBS.....complete tosh!
Why do I feel very dizzy/lightheaded? I have been feeling very lightheaded almost to the point of passing out sometimes. It has gone on for months and sometimes it's not to bad and sometimes i feel like I'm about to pass out. I'll feel like this all day and eating sometimes makes it better or worse. I'm 14 and I don't eat very well, you know, junk food and what not. My mom is diabetic and so is my older brother so it may be that, the school nurse said it may be hypoglycemia but i changed my diet and it didn't help. PLEASE help and give me all possible options. Thanks. yes I do, and I have a doctors appointment this monday.

Medical Benefits of Ramadan ? Medical Benefits of Ramadan by Shahid Athar, M.D. Most Muslims do not fast because of medical benefits but because it has been ordained to them in the Quran. The medical benefits of fasting are as a result of fasting. Fasting in general has been used in medicine for medical reasons including weight management, for rest of the digestive tract and for lowering lipids. There are many adverse effects of total fasting as well as so-called crash diets. Islamic fasting is different from such diet plans because in Ramadan fasting, there is no malnutrition or inadequate calorie intake. The caloric intake of Muslims during Ramadan is at or slightly below the national requirement guidelines. In addition, the fasting in Ramadan is voluntarily taken and is not a prescribed imposition from the physician. Ramadan is a month of self-regulation and self-training, with the hope that this training will last beyond the end of Ramadan. If the lessons learned during Ramadan, whether in terms of dietary intake or righteousness, are carried on after Ramadan, it is beneficial for one's entire life. Moreover, the type of food taken during Ramadan does not have any selective criteria of crash diets such as those which are protein only or fruit only type diets. Everything that is permissible is taken in moderate quantities. The only difference between Ramadan and total fasting is the timing of the food; during Ramadan, we basically miss lunch and take an early breakfast and do not eat until dusk. Abstinence from water during this period is not bad at all and in fact, it causes concentration of all fluids within the body, producing slight dehydration. The body has its own water conservation mechanism; in fact, it has been shown that slight dehydration and water conservation, at least in plant life, improve their longevity. The physiological effect of fasting includes lower of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, Ramadan fasting would be an ideal recommendation for treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and essential hypertension. In 1994 the first International Congress on "Health and Ramadan", held in Casablanca, entered 50 research papers from all over the world, from Muslim and non-Muslim researchers who have done extensive studies on the medical ethics of fasting. While improvement in many medical conditions was noted; however, in no way did fasting worsen any patients' health or baseline medical condition. On the other hand, patients who are suffering from severe diseases, whether diabetes or coronary artery disease, kidney stones, etc., are exempt from fasting and should not try to fast. There are psychological effects of fasting as well. There is a peace and tranquility for those who fast during the month of Ramadan. Personal hostility is at a minimum, and the crime rate decreases. Muslims take advice from the Prophet who said, "If one slanders you or aggresses against you, say I am fasting.'" This psychological improvement could be related to better stabilization of blood glucose during fasting as hypoglycemia after eating, aggravates behavior changes. There is a beneficial effect of extra prayer at night. This not only helps with better utilization of food but also helps in output. There are 10 extra calories output for each rikat of the prayer. Again, we do not do prayers for exercise, but a mild movement of the joints with extra calorie utilization is a better form of exercise. Similarly, recitation of the Quran not only produces a tranquility of heart and mind, but improves the memory. Therefore, I encourage my Muslim patients to fast in the month of Ramadan, but they must do it under medical supervision. Healthy adult Muslims should not fear becoming weak by fasting, but instead it should improve their health and stamina.

Help please, Im in a carb rut and can't get out? I'm still getting used to being a type2 diabetic. Diet stresses me out and Im SICK of thinking about food all the time. I do not have a problem with high bg often but suffer a lot with lows. (I have diabetes WITH hypoglycemia). No medications. I am having a stuffed bell pepper for supper. (Hamburger with no filler like rice). Could you nice folks give me some new suggestions for carbs with this meal?? I think I'm just in a big fat rut. My go to carbs for supper are: applesauce, yogurt, milk, apple, pudding. (All no sugar of course). Please help me with some new ideas. It is starting to get me down!! Thanks so very much.
What is left for me to say.....? I typed up a report on diabetes, it is supposed to be 6 pages dubble spaced, but now i don't know what else to put, all i need is a half a page more. Thank you! Diabetes Type 1 Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal. People with diabetes have problems using food for energy. After a meal, carbohydrates in food are broken down into a sugar called glucose, which is carried by the blood to cells throughout the body. Cells require insulin, a hormone made in the pancreas, to help use blood glucose for energy. People develop diabetes because the pancreas does not make enough insulin or because the cells in the muscles, liver, and fat do not respond to insulin properly, or both. As a result, the amount of glucose in the blood increases while the cells are starved of energy. Prior to 1997, the type of diabetes typically diagnosed in young people was called juvenile diabetes or type 1. Diabetes emerging in adults was called adult-onset diabetes or type 2. Then in 1997, the official names of the types were changed to type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is the second most common chronic disease in children (after asthma). About 13,000 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. each year. Patients with type 1 diabetes make up about 5 percent of all cases of diabetes. It most commonly appears in girls and boys when they are about 14 years old. Usually, type 1 diabetes is first diagnosed in children, teenagers, or young adults but it can occur at any age. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the beta cells in the pancreas that make insulin. As a result, the pancreas does not make insulin, a hormone which helps use blood sugar (glucose) for energy. The cells become starved of energy and there is an excess of glucose in the blood. People with Type 1 diabetes must have daily injections of insulin to live. Proper diet, exercise and home blood sugar monitoring are essential to manage the disease. Food and exercise must also be balanced because of the risk of hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, and hyperglycemia, high blood sugar. Both are life threatening concerns. When hypoglycemia develops, cells are not getting enough glucose. Confusion, loss of consciousness, comma and death results when the brain is deprived of glucose for too long. Hyperglycemia and prolonged absence of insulin may lead to ketoacidosis, the accumulation of ketones in the blood when the body uses fat for energy instead of glucose. Ketones make the blood acidic and slow down all body functions. Like hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia can also lead to comma and death. The only cure available today for type 1 diabetes is a pancreas transplant, which is rarely done. Because both pancreas transplants and kidney transplants require lifelong use of powerful drugs to suppress immune reactions that can reject the organs, pancreatic transplants are usually done to those with type 1 diabetes who also need a kidney transplant. The side effects of immune- suppressive drugs can be severe and even worse than the disease. One or two people out of every 10 who get the surgery die within a year. Also the new pancreas is rejected by half of the people who get this operation. If the transplant fails, diabetes returns. Recently, experimental treatments with stem cells have shown some promise. For most people, type 1 diabetes is a life-long disease that can be effectively managed with insulin. Signs and Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes •Urinates frequently. The kidneys respond to high levels of glucose in the bloodstream by flushing out the extra glucose in urine. A child with diabetes needs to urinate more frequently and in larger volumes. •Is abnormally thirsty. Because the child is loosing so much fluid from peeing so much, he or she becomes very thirsty to help avoid becoming dehydrated. A child who has developed diabetes drinks a lot in an attempt to keep the level of body water normal. •Loses weight. (or fails to gain weight as he or she grows) in spite of a good appetite. Kids and teens who develop type 1 diabetes may have an increased appetite, but often lose weight. This is because the body breaks down muscle and stored fat in an attempt the provide fuel to the hungry cells. •Often feels tired. Because the body can’t use glucose for energy properly. But in some cases, other symptoms may be the signal that something is wrong. Sometimes the first sign of diabetes is bedwetting in a child who has been dry at night. The possibility of diabetes should also be suspected if a vaginal yeast infection (also called a Candida infection) occurs in a girl who hasn’t started puberty yet. If these early symptoms of diabetes aren’t recognized and treatment isn’t started, chemicals called ketones can build up in the child’s blood and cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, fruity- smelling breath, breathing problems; even loss of consciousness. Sometimes these symptoms are mistaken f
Hypoglycemia diet in pregnancy? My sister was just diagnosed w/ hypoglycemia and she is pregnant. She's been having alot of problems w/ dizzy spells and passing out. Her doctor and people keep telling her to eat peanut butter, until her next appt. She really needs more food alternatives! Can anyone offer any advice about what she can eat? Yes I know and understand why they are recommending peanut butter, but obviously she can't live off of peanut butter solely. That is why I'm asking!! Thank you for the helpful answers
diet/ hypoglycemia? I am trying to change my eatign habbits so that I can eat healthier and maybe lose weight, but i want it to be something I can stick with my whole life. Well, I have hypoglycemia and, right now everything I have tried makes my blood suger go down really low, my doctor told me that when my suger gets low to eat protein to bring it back up, so maybe I am not eating enough protein? I would liek to follow the food pyrimid but I dont really understand how to read it. any help would be great! I cant affored to see a dietician, there is a free doctor on campus at teh college i go to would they be able to make a plan for me?
Low glycemic load diet may improve acne? is there any correlation between the two? If so, what are some examples of food that one should eat to improve both health and acne (if possible). Also, I have hypoglycemia so I was wondering what foods i should eat and which i should avoid. Thanks!
Hypoglycemic Diet Suggestions? Earlier this week I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia (I don't have diabetes though). I have had 4 bad experiences where I have passed out, and now I finally know that it was because I am hypoglycemic. Now that I know what's wrong with me I know that I need to change my diet. I was just wondering if anyone can help me figure out what are the best things to eat, and the foods that I should avoid the most. The doctor told me that this could develop into diabetes if I don't start a new diet. If you have any advice I'd love to hear it. :-)
Can't tell if my hypoglycemia is diabetes related? So before I begin- I am going to the doctor this weekend so please don't give me that as an answer! I'm in my early 20's, maybe 35-40 lbs overweight, but most of the time I follow the South Beach diet plan, which is vegetables, lean meat and poultry- NO refined sugar or carbs. I go on and off the diet unfortunately, but I started back on phase 1 a few weeks ago, which is the strictest. I can't tell if my symptoms are because of carb withdrawal or because of possible diabetes. My chest feels heavy and my heart pounds pretty hard on a normal basis since I've gone back on low carb. Yesterday I was in a 90 minute spinning class with only a little food in my stomach, mostly protein and water-based, and afterwards I felt extremely ill. I had nausea, anxiety, shakiness, and a very fast heart rate before going to bed. I ended up having to *break* the diet rules and eating a couple corn chips, but I immediately felt a little better and my heart rate came down. I know that it was probably hypoglycemia, but can hypoglycemia be induced by starting a low-carb way of eating? Or is that indicative of a more serious problem? Also, whenever I go "off" plan and binge on carbs, I get sluggish, sleepy, and urinate a lot, but can that be a normal response to sugar? Basically, despite reading so much about hypo-hyperglycemia, and diabetes, I'm really confused and can't tell if I'm having symptoms of diabetes or if it's just a result of the way I'm eating. For the record, I do not normally work out heavily on a nearly empty stomach. Yesterday was an isolated incident, and I didn't even realize that the class I had entered was 90 minutes until later on. I usually eat 6 meals a day, lots of veggies, some cheese/dairy, and lots of seafood/poultry/lean beef.
What blood glucose level constitutes an emergency? Ever since I was a young teen, I've struggled with PCOS with frequent bouts of hypoglycemia (that diet never could control) and, now that I'm 43, it looks like this has finally crossed over to diabetes as my doctor predicted it would. My blood sugar last night after a vegetarian dinner was 359. I haven't eaten anything since, more than 12 hours, and it's still a whooping 258. So it's going down but very, very slowly. My question is, at what level does high blood sugar become an emergency? I think I can wait to call my doctor on Monday. Tonight, I'll simply eat ultra low carb foods like green beans and mushrooms. Please don't give me lectures about diet and exercise. I'm a strict vegan so I eat healthy and I exercise regularly. My condition is caused from my genes not from my diet and neither diet nor exercise has ever kept this condition in check. I've suffered greatly from it most of my life. This is the first time my blood sugar has ever gone this high and I'm not on medication or insulin for it. I was once on Glucophage for my PCOS, but it caused lactic acidosis so I had to discontinue it. I'm currently not being treated for diabetes nor has it been diagnosed. Obviously though, I now have diabetes.
Not a great morning!? I awoke at 9am... with a 60 bg. No symptoms. I went to sleep around midnight, had my South Beach bar at midnight, (1cho, 1pro). My 2 hour after dinner bg was 124. I am type 2 with hypoglycemia. No meds, diet only. I did awake around 2 am. with soaking sweats. Got up, tested and was 105. Any ideas on what is going on here? This is the second low this week (52 on Wednesday). Should I have eaten at 2:30am?? Do I want to go to bed with a higher bg?? Any help greatly appreciated. I am so confused and frustrated right now. Very sad actually. Yesterday I ate perfect food!!! Measuring, weighing, don't know what I could have done better...... help?? I' will start a new question, with my two GTT' results.... for Sugarbabies
Inability to gain weight? I lost 25 lbs a year and a half ago and have never been able to gain it back and keep it on. I am 5'9" and now weigh 125 lbs. I didn't have any problem with being 150 lbs and now everyone is constantly telling me that I look too skinny. I was athletic and healthy but now I have no energy and have been having health problems. I was having hypoglycemic episodes that have gotten better with a change in diet, but now I often feel very full after a normal sized meal and it seems to take a very long time to digest and pass that normal amount of food. I have slow healing cuts and bruises and I "just don't look healthy" to anyone that knew me 2 years ago. I have been to a dr and he has ruled out diabetes, thyroid problems, liver problems, and anemia and referred me to an endocrinologist. He doesn't think there is a problem because the change in diet seems to have helped with the hypoglycemia. If there really isn't anything wrong then why can't I put on weight and why do I still feel like crap? I keep trying to go out and do things like exercise or even just go to the mall but I get tired very quickly. I want to do things-I'm not depressed-but I can't. I thought maybe I was just doing too much too soon after the whole problem with sugar and the bad hypoglycemic episodes but then I backed off a bit in intensity and duration of the activity and it is still totally wiping me out. It is driving me crazy and making it difficult for me to get any work done (I'm in retail management). By the way, I'm a 21 year old female if it matters. My job basically is a workout every day. We unload, unpack, merchandise and then topstock items (i.e. microwaves) all day every day. I don't smoke or drink. The problem is that I don't feel healthy but apparently nobody can figure out why. I have tried to convince myself that it is all in my head and the problems will go away if I exercise, think positively, etc but it isn't working. My primary care physician thinks that there is a problem, but has no idea what it could be now that the fairly obvious things have been ruled out.
Any way to kill off the insulin producing area of your pancreas without killing the rest? If you have reactive hypoglycemia that doesn't respond to diet, it makes your life a living hell. Wouldn't it be better to just become a diabetic and control your insulin via injections instead of constantly getting low blood sugar and adrenaline spikes? At least then you can keep your sugar up when you sleep instead of waking with an adrenal spike every 2-3 hours EVERY night from having low sugar? We have worked with the top specialists at the University hospital and they can't stop the high insulin levels. They don't respond to meds and they have checked for insulin tumors and found nothing. When fasting, the levels remain normal but ANY food is a trigger for a massive dump of insulin. We have tried no carbs, minimal carbs, and no change. So wouldn't it be preferred to be able to eat normal food again and sleep through the night as a trade off for diabetes? My son is going thru hell with this and the Doctors won't do anything to help. They told him he will be a diabetic in less than 2 years at this rate because his pancreas will "burn out" but won't operate and just make it happen now so he can go back to a semi normal life.
Dealing with some weird symptoms please help? So I am epileptic and taking meds which already have their many side effects.A little over a year ago I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia which is a form of diabetes.Inmy family my grandparents from my father's side both have diabetes,my dad might have the beginning of diabetes(where you do not use a needle and are still producing insulin),my sister did a test and figured out that she is hyperglycemic and predisposed to diabetes which also puts me at risk. Here is the twist:I would go and eat out with my bf at the time and would be so dizzy but thought that I did not have enough food to eat so I would grab some lunch only to have my headaches return after my meal. That continued for a semester and I found out that I was hypoglycemic when I went to the doctors on campus asking them what is wrong. After the tests came back and the results came I was advised to eat meat which I get tired of a lot so they advised high protein and low carb diet.So I followed that but even so when ever I would go out or especially after I would eat a bowl of pasta with chicken on top(grilled) and minimal or no dressing I would still be dizzy or rather what it felt like a headache gone bad. That in the end has cost my GPA to go down for the past 3 semesters as my health deteriorated.Last semester before finding out that I was pregnant and after having a miscariage I still had headaches caused by what I had no idea,I would have to keep a bottle of Advil and one of Exedrin with me for migranes as well.As of now when I am with my family and friends they think that having something sweet like a cookie or a glass of soda with cure it or spike my sugar level which it will do but temporary.I am worried because I have not as much energy as before,I have these headaches or lite headeness that I had before and I know that something is not right. My sister told me to get tested with the same test she did and see what the outcome is.I am 25 years old,120-125 lbs,5 foot 5 inches and petite.I need someone's help on what to do because all I feel like doing is sleeping the day away, when I was at the mall the other day I had a shake and I had the biggest headache even though I had some food to eat. What should I do?
I have a complicated dietary problem need advic?see details? I am 27 yrs old 5'9 and weigh 350 pounds I had severe anorexia at the age of 19 and starved myself down to 134 pounds at the time from a obese weight of 330 pounds I started eating normally again and kept my calories at 1600-1800 per day but my weight balooned.I was a vegan, and no matter how I restricted food and calories I kept gaining more and more weight it has been 7 yrs and I am obese, sick and have digestive problems Every time I eat my blood sugar crashes,I only eat gluten free food brown rice, beans, olive oil, fruits and no sugar,im allergic to soy nuts, eggs, peas and several legumes. It has been suggested to me by a doctor that I have insulin resistane and PCOS,and that I should be on a low carbohydrate diet. But everytime I START IT im not used to eating meats, and my blood sugar crashes all the time. The funny thing is when I EAT carbs even brown rice with beans my blood sugar drops and I get reactive hypoglycemia and pee all day, feel shakey, jittery and get heart palpitations.I am suffering from IBS and havent had a normal bowl movement in years I have diarrhea every time I eat. How long does it typically take for hypoglycemia symptoms to go away once beginning a proper diet? I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia two months ago when I started having panic attacks, anxiety, dizzy spells, and blackouts. I'm feeling much better now, but I still feel uneasy and disoriented from time to time. This seems to happen at different points throughout my day, so I'm having trouble pinpointing down what food or situation is causing it. I just feel "off". My dad is also hypoglycemic and said it took him two years to feel totally back to normal, but I'm interested in other people's experiences, too. Thank you! what is jessica's clinical summary? Clinical Summary C N A Name: Jessica Hickingbottom Weeks of October 8-24, 2007 Clinical Assignment Area Brookhaven Nursing Home 1.What type of surrounding do most patients have in their rooms? Does it have anything to do with any of the disorders? List specific examples. (10 points) When I first walked into Brookhaven Nursing Home I felt very warm and welcome, but upon arriving in the first patients’ room I felt a sense of loneliness and despair. This man had no photos and no belongings, just machines all around him, including an oxygen machine by which his every breath depended on. I had a fear that every other resident was just the same. By the time my shift was over I had a totally different view. The second resident that I met was so happy to see me she just kept talking and talking. All around her room there were so many pictures. She was a diehard Elvis Presley fan and her room had every bit to show of it. On her night stand she had a framed picture of her and an Elvis impersonator signed by the man himself. She is a very lively lady and all she needed from me was a helping hand in the morning to get out of bed so she could grab her walker, which sat right next to the edge of her chair, just so she could move on with her day. Every time I walked into a residents room the first thing I would do was look around and see all of their things. One resident even had her very own motorized scooter ;I had been so used to pushing around wheelchairs that it was nice to see someone do it on there own. I noticed that most of the residents had a water jug in there room that was located on their bedside table. Some residents were not allowed to have water, I knew this because some of them had signs posted above their beds warning the CNA’s of certain things. Some signs would tell you not to give the resident water or to be gentle when lifting certain parts of their bodies, while other signs warned us where to put the laundry because their family does it for them. Other miscellaneous items such as night creams, extra pillows, special foot wraps, arm bandages, and denture cups led me to the obvious conclusion s of their needs. I really enjoyed rooms that were filled with things that represented where the resident had been or where they were from. One man had a wall filled with postcards and letters from pen pals of extraordinary trips he had taken in the past and friends that he had met along the way. Another resident that I had come across was originally from china. In her room she had sweet pictures of her grandchildren surrounded by paper fans and ancient Chinese quotes. Many of the residents had equipment in their rooms like walkers, wheelchairs, and lifts that aided them with their disabilities, but the residents that looked past that and decorated their rooms with pictures and memories of their younger years were the one’s I really enjoyed spending time with. 2.Name/identify (trade and generic) two drugs you observed being given. what method was used to give the drug? (10 points) This week seemed to be a great time for me to give showers. I was just cleaning bodies from one patient to the next. By the time I had done my third shower I felt like it was the easiest task on hand. Showers started to change for me when I gained a new resident from moving to hall 300. To me it was a typical day, wake the resident, put them in the chair and roll them down to the shower room, all was fine until we started the actual shower. I uncovered the resident, started the shower, checking the temperature while the resident washed her face. I sprayed the water all around her body then I drenched the washcloth in soap and starting washing through the steps. During a normal routine cleansing of the perennial area the certain resident I was working on had a bowel movement and it took me by surprise. In the back of my mind I knew that this very thing could have happened at any time but I suppose I just didn’t expect it. The resident realized what she had done and knowing that she didn’t have any more control over what had happened than I did, I reassured her that everything was just fine. I continued on with perennial care and finished the shower. I knew that my resident was embarrassed and I felt bad about what had happened. I picked up the specimen with a used washcloth as the CNA had instructed to placing it at the bottom of the shower chair making it easier to dispose of. While back in the residents’ room, I gathered her clean clothes and a diaper. I dried off the rest of her body, particularly the hard to reach areas, armpits, peri, and underneath the breast. I started to apply her deodorant when I noticed something on the floor. She had accidently had another bowel movement when I had be drying her off. Just as before I grabbed another washcloth and covered the specimen placing it at the bottom of the chair. I wasn’t grossed out about what she was doing; it was all out of her control. I just wanted to let her know that everything was going to be ok since she was feeling so bad about it. It is part of my job to do these things, but more importantly my job is to comfort the residents and make them feel as positive as they should. 4.What affected you the most in your clinical area this week? (10 points) While working at the nursing home I really started to see how the residents feel. Most people avoid going to nursing homes because they dislike the smell or they think it is just a sad place to be, but all of this is not necessarily truthful. When I was working and connecting with the residents, listening to what they had to say it really affected me. So many people missed their families, which is what it all seemed to be about. Almost every conversation I had was about someone’s grandchild or a family Christmas photo that was on their nightstand. The resident’s felt that they were put in a home waiting to die while the one’s they loved went on. It made me sad when residents would say things like, “When I get better and I get out of this place, I’m going to go visit my sister in Colorado, or my grandkids in California.” I know as well as they do that they won’t be going, but somehow I believe when they tell themselves things like that it makes them feel better. Everyone needs a reason to live you can’t just sit around waiting to die. Some residents would take their feeling s out in anger, yelling at the CNA’s or refusing to eat .While others took it out in sorrow crying their eyes out at every memory of a passed loved one. While on hall 200 I met an amazing lady who was so happy and giggly everyday I worked with her. She would always tell my CNA of the dreams she had the previous night about her husband, and they would always be so sweet and lovely. I felt so sorry that her husband had passed ,but she is one the nicest people I’ve ever met, and when she spoke of her dreams she always had a smile on her face, almost as if her husband were sitting right next to her. She has come to terms of what her life has given her and that made me respect her even more. Some residents made it difficult and sad to work with them but knowing one day that they will all return back to be with the one’s they love make my job so much easier, 5.Copy below from the patient's chart a Doctor's Order and interpret the order. (10 points) Flu vacc 0.5 ml IM x 1 dose Give the resident 0.5 milliliters of the Flu vaccine intra muscular only one dose Check temp. Q shift x 72̊ Check the residents temperature every shift for 72 hours (3 days) 6.Copy below from a patient's chart a Nurses Notes and interpret the order. (10 points) Cont. on flu fall-no delayed injury The resident is continuing to come off of the flu and there is no delayed injury Noted- denies any pain or discomfort The resident denies having any pain or discomfort 7.What do you feel that you need to improve on (skills, etc)? (10 points) When making beds at the nursing home I noticed that residents liked it done differently then the way we were taught. I got really nervous the first time my CNA had me make a residents bed , it was like I had forgotten all of the steps, I think I was just so nervous that my mind went blank. She had to show me all of the steps again like she was teaching me for the first time. I didn’t know that some of the residents liked their sheets folded in half because it makes the bed warmer and it took me a while to get used to that. Each resident seemed to prefer their beds made differently and it took me some time to memorize just the way they liked it. But the majority of the beds that I made were not like the skills we practiced in class. I just don’t feel like my bed making skills are up to par. I have been making so many beds by the residents request that I have forgotten how to make them the way I need to for my CNA test. I know that everything will be fine though, I have my procedural guidelines at home and a bed to practice on. As far as all of the other tasks go I think I have had enough practice and reading to excel. 8.Name two diets that different patients have. Describe. (10 points) Mechanical soft was one of the diets that I came across while working in the cafeteria. This diet consisted of foods that were all soft like eggs, juice, oatmeal, soft sausage, and gravy. A normal diet at the nursing home consisted of pancakes, syrup, eggs, cereal, oat meal, toast, or bacon. This is for residents who can eat easily or with the help of dentures. 9.Name some similar traits that most patients share. (10 points) When it was just the resident and I that were left to converse I felt like I got to know them more as a person than just a room number at Brookhaven Nursing Home. As I mentioned earlier many of the residents were similar in the fact that they were crazy in love with their families. Most of the time I wouldn’t talk much because I would ask a resident about a family member in a picture and they would go on and on .Some residents would just tell me before I even got a the chance to ask. What I love the most about the residents though is that they are all on a schedule, and many of them have the same schedule. Things like going to the bathroom in the mornings or watching a certain television program. This made it so much easier for me because I became accustom to their needs and we could both work together harmoniously, for instance while working on hall 200 there were two ladies who shared a room and also shared the same schedule. I loved seeing them because they made my day so much easier. They both woke up, went to the bathroom and ate at around the same time. They even had certain television shows that they would watch together, it’s almost like they were best friends roomed together. I also met some couples that were in the same room, and I thought that was one of the sweetest things. Most of them act quite similar because they are so used to being by each other side and that helped me out . 10. What is the most difficult thing that you had to do this week? (10 points) I would have to say that the most arduous task I performed this week was when I was assigned to feed a particular resident. Monday morning I was taking breakfast trays to the rooms as I usually do and occasionally I will have to feed residents their meal which is no problem. So when the CNA told me to feed this man I thought alright and headed back to his room. Upon entering I noticed that he was still sleeping so I woke him and raised his bed to a proper eating level. While setting up his tray I tried to start casual conversation with him and I noticed he wasn’t saying anything back so I spoke louder. After my attempts I assumed he was deaf so I began sign language and again no response. Knowing that not every deaf person knows signs I just began to point at breakfast items and show him what I was going to give to him. I took a spoonful of oatmeal and lead it toward his mouth, when all of a sudden he swats his hand at me yelling in Chinese and not wanting any part of what I was doing. It took me back a little because he hadn’t said a word and now he just wouldn’t stop. I pulled the spoon away and calmed him down. After he was settled I pointed at some more of the food items to see if he wanted them or not. Any time I tried to feed him something he would seal his lips and shake his head, after fifteen minutes he knew I wasn’t giving in and he finally ate his food. I just had a really hard time and I felt bad because, I didn’t know what he wanted or didn’t want. The communication barrier between us was so great that I felt lost. Even a persons body language is international and I still feel like he didn’t understand. I’m just so glad that he finally ate and everything worked out nicely.
New chihuahua puppy won't eat!!? I just got a new 16 week old chihuahua yesterday. The woman I bought her from told us he was eating hard puppy food already perfectly fine. We already have one 9 week old chi who's only 2 pounds so we have him on strictly wet Science Diet for puppies. I know that if you give a dog wet food after he's been used to dry it can give him diarhhea, so we asked if he would eat Science Diet puppy kibble alright. She said she had fed the puppies that a few times and they all ate it just fine. We went straight to Petco and picked up a bag full of Puppy kibble, a collar, and some food for our younger chi, too. When we got home, we tried feeding him and he ate 2 pieces of kibble and wouldn't eat anymore. We thought maybe it was because they had already fed him. He pooped twice last night so we thought no big deal. He was taking water just fine. This morning I fed my younger puppy and went to feed the older one. Tye (the older one) ate 3 pieces of kibble and stopped. He pooped again. Around noontime I fed the younger puppy and tried to feed Tye. Tye ate 1 piece of kibble.. I've repeated this process ALL day and it's been the same. Now, I tried smashing the food into crumbs and he ate a little. I mixed it with water, and it didn't help. I mixed it with wet puppy food and he only ate the wet food out of the dry. I've VERY worried about him because I know chihuahua's are known to get hypoglycemia if they don't eat enough.. I just don't know what to do! I don't want to feed him all wet food because I know it will hurt his tummy! What can I do? Please help me I'm so worried!!
Preg Symptom? Or PMS? Stomach never satisfied!!!? For the past 24 hours, nothing I eat or drink satisfies me! I have hypoglycemia, so I have to eat a lower carb, higher protein diet than normal, but most importantly I have to snack all day long... ANYWAY - today, I've been eating everything I think will help, and for 10 minutes it does. Then, I feel like I've gone the entire day without eating again. - Nausea - Dizziness - Loss of balance - Insatiable appetite - VERY strong food cravings - Craving carbs like CRAZY AF on 12/29, Ovulated on 1/12, AF due today, but hasn't showed yet and not many signs of it. I've been EXHAUSTED all week, napping and sleeping all the time. What do you think? THANKS! No other illness like sinus or cold or allergies. I even thought the nausea might be from not drinking enough water, but when I went to drink more I just could not stomach it. I really feel like I'm gonna lose my lunch if I try to make myself drink more water... mrs face. mstremain@gmail.com
